Awning Maintenance
To help your awning maintain its quality looks and for you get the
most out of your awning, we would ask you to follow these simple
maintenance instructions.
Looking after your awnings frame:
Your awnings frame has been oven baked with a tough powder coated paint
and very little maintenance is needed. Like any other product left
outside in the elements your awning will get dirty. If this dirt is not
removed, it can in time dull the paint finish and can contribute to the
failure of some of the working parts. We would recommend that you wash
or hose the framework once or twice a year with clean water or a weak
solution of water and a light non- abrasive detergent.
If you live in either a city centre, a coastal or industrial area or any
other highly polluted area, we would recommend more regular washing,
possibly even once or twice a month.
TIP: Car paint cleaners and a soft cloth can be used to remove stains
from birds or tree sap!
Looking after the moving parts:
The moving parts of your awning will run smoother for longer if twice a
year they are sprayed with a silicon or Teflon spray. (These parts
include the arm joints or elbows, the arm front hands or connectors, the
arm shoulders and the gearbox if your awning is manually operated.) Once
you have sprayed these parts, run the awning in and out a couple of
times to allow the silicon or Teflon spray to works its way into the
parts.
DO NOT USE OILY OR GREASY PRODUCTS, AS THESE WILL ATTRACT DIRT AND IN
TIME CAUSE THE PARTS TO RUN LESS SMOOTHLY.
Looking after your fabric:
Your ACRYLIC fabric has been treated with Perl-guardtM this is a special
coating that protects your awning fabric from mildew, rot and the ultra
violet rays of the sun.
Standard maintenance:
Dust the fabric as thoroughly as possible to remove all the dirt
particles from the surface. You can do this with either a vacuum cleaner
or a soft brush but do not rub too hard as this can affect the
treatments’ ability to repel water. Then simply wash or hose down the
fabric cover with fresh clean water.
DO NOT USE A PRESSURE-WASH.
Stain removal:
To remove fingerprints or other grease stains use a solvent cleaning pad
(Only iii Trichoroethane). To remove watermarks sponge out as much as
possible and then gently rub with a moist cloth.
